April 28, 2021: A Million Thanks to Nanban Foundation!
The Nanban Foundation, a Frisco-based organization whose vision is to help the community at large attain financial freedom, has joined the fight against hunger by taking the HungerMitao Million Meal Pledge at Feeding America, benefiting the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).
The word “nanban” means “friend” in the classic Indian language Tamil, and the meaning comes through not only in the foundation’s focus on teaching top-class financial knowledge free of cost, but in its support of underserved communities through socially relevant initiatives.

March 20, 2021: The New & Improved HungerMitao Radio Show Starts Today!
After hundreds of 15-minute segments on Thursday afternoons over the last three years, we are excited to share that the HungerMitao Radio Show (no longer just a segment!), will be expanded to 30 minutes and will be aired every Saturday from 3:30pm to 4:00 pm on FunAsia 104.9 FM! We will be supported by RJ Ankeel Bhakta, who is very well known on FunAsia airwaves as AB.
The new HungerMitao radio show will now include informative interviews with leaders of the food banks, Feeding America, Community Champions. Also shared during this half hour will be inspiring and impactful stories from the field, showcasing the hunger issues faced by people and highlighting how the collective efforts of the community helps resolve hunger and related issues.
Besides sharing HungerMitao achievements and milestones there will also be a song or two played during the 30 minute window. Song(s) that highlight the spirit of generosity, philanthropy.. one that inspires people to give to help uplift others. Through this radio show, we will continue to raise awareness about the rampant hunger issue not just in North Texas but across the USA; and share ways in which each one of us, in the spirit of “give where you live”, can, and is making a difference. To learn about the nationwide HungerMitao efforts, visit www.hungermitao.org!

March 17, 2021: HungerMitao 2.0
Three years into the HungerMitao journey, it gives us great pleasure to share with you that the DFW-based Indian American community has raised over 10 million meals for North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) for children, seniors, veterans and families in need across North Texas.
Thank you for the role each of you played, and continue to play, in the achievements and the growth of this hundred percent volunteer driven movement. As HungerMitao movement scales new heights, this work now requires sustained commitment of time, skills and resources from more passionate hunger fighters of the Indian American community. As such, we are happy to share with you the HungerMitao 2.0 design which was developed with input from several of you in addition to the leadership at the food bank. In this new model, we will establish three HungerMitao roles that will guide and oversee all matters related to HungerMitao at NTFB:
1. Co-chairs will be the face of HungerMitao in the area focused on carrying out the mission of HungerMitao in collaboration with NTFB. They do that by building a strong HungerMitao Steering Council (SC) of equally passionate hunger fighters in the area. Working closely with the food bank(s) and the Steering Council, the Co-chairs create a localized HungerMitao plan with concrete goals and establish a governance system to track the progress to be shared with the Advisory Council and community at large, at regular intervals.
2. The Steering Council, a working committee will consist of 10-15 individuals committing to devote the time and efforts needed to help make various initiatives successful. Candidates may be self-nominated or invited by the co-chairs. The new design features a one-year term and a commitment of just 4 hours a month. We believe this moderate time commitment will allow more passionate people to be able to join the working committee and help steer this community movement forward.
3. The Advisory Council will include all Circle members (HungerMitao multiyear pledge holders) in current standing. In addition to being key participants in the annual strategy, the Advisory Council members will have an open invitation to a once a month 30-minute call for updates on HungerMitao, events, campaigns, etc., and an opportunity to ask questions.
This evolved and updated design of HungerMitao will enable everyone to participate as their personal constraints change.
We count on your guidance and look forward to your ongoing support as we move towards the next milestone of 25 million meals by HungerMitao for NTFB!
With gratitude and regards,
