Freedom From Hunger Concert --
House Full & Mesmerizing!

Our phones have not stopped ringing yet! Thank you for your tremendous support of the HungerMitao “Freedom from Hunger” concert on August 27th at Pebble Creek Montessori School in Plano. The venue was just right, we were close to standing room only! The volunteers turned it into a welcoming and intimate oasis, the sound system and sound management was legit, and the singers….? Well, the singers were fabulous! They clearly had a rocking time and ensured the audience was fully engaged throughout. Our esteemed and skillful emcee spun seamless bridges between the melodies. Oh, and the Masala Chai and chatpata samosa hit the spot! This evening of music raised almost 35,000 nutritious meals for North Texas Food Bank!!
Event was made possible by:
  • Event Sponsors: Meena and Bharat Trivedi, Muthu Mudaliar, Nandita and Ramesh Krishnamurthy, Ritu and Shailendra Krishna
  • Venue sponsor: Sanjay Joshi, Pebble Creek Montessori
  • Sound system and management: Sushil Dravekar
  • Photography: Dheeraj Kohli, Picturizze Photography
  • Singers: Kanhaiya Moharir, Priya Dravekar, Ravi Rao, Om Rao, Salman Farshori, and Kamal Mavuduru
  • Emcee: Pramod Rajput

2022 HungerMitao Month!

Picture
This August, the Indian American community celebrates and commemorates 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.  We congratulate the Indian diaspora in North Texas and thank them for the millions of nutritious meals they have enabled through the HungerMitao movement for food challenged children, seniors, veterans, and families in need across North Texas.

Friends, we have started the planning and coordination for this year's HungerMitao Month "Funds for Food" drive benefitting the North Texas Food Bank.

If you as an individual, or your association/organization is interested in participating, please drop us an email at NorthTexas@HungerMitao.org and we will work with you to get you started in this noble cause.

Don't delay, shoot us an email today..

The month of August, when India commemorated its 75th anniversary of independence, may be over, but the opportunity to help keep our North Texas neighbors free from hunger is still available. Right now especially, family budgets just can’t keep up with the rising cost of essentials like food and gas. That means more neighbors are turning to the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to help fill the gaps. Your support can make all the difference! Here is a simple, direct way to help NTFB: Click here to donate directly to the HungerMitao Month 2022 campaign. Every $1 can help provide 3 meals to neighbors in need.

A Huge Success!!

As in the past several years, HungerMitao was a top sponsor of Taste of the Cowboys -- and what an amazing event it turned out to be! HungerMitao was in full force with over 100 folks from the Indian American community and their friends actively participating in this year’s North Texas Food Bank’s signature event Taste of the Cowboys held at The Star in Frisco. An amazingly fun night that saw impactful giving by folks from across North Texas. Welcome to HungerMitao_NorthTexas
The HungerMitao chapter for North Texas Food Bank was formed to raise awareness, improve engagement, as well as channel resources and contributions of the Indian American community toward NTFB’s mission of a hunger-free community.

A critical component of NTFB’s tenet of community engagement, HungerMitao is working to provide food assistance to thousands of food insecure individuals across NTFB’s 13 county service area.  It does that by:
  • Raising hunger-awareness
  • Encouraging active volunteering
  • Conducting food drive campaigns
  • Raising crucial funds

Mission of HungerMitao is as much about eradicating hunger as it is about unifying the fragmented efforts of the Indian American community and focusing it on the humanitarian cause of hunger.

By coming together as an unified Indian American community, we can demonstrate how any place we call home benefits from our presence. We are smart, compassionate change-agents, who bloom where we are planted. While we may never be able to eradicate hunger, let us ensure no one goes hungry – HungerMitao!
About HUNGER MITAO?
HungerMitao is a volunteer-driven grassroots movement focused on raising awareness about hunger in the USA, improving community engagement, as well as channeling resources and contributions of the Indian American community towards fighting hunger through the Feeding America network of food banks. Launched in North Texas in 2017, the movement has enabled more than 30 million meals through Feeding America and food banks in North Texas, Houston, New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle.
