HungerMitao - Sewa Diwali Food/Funds Drive
A Huge Success!
“Sewa" is a word that means "service" in most of the Indian languages.
And this year's Sewa Diwali initiative was nothing short of spectacular.
Celebrating Diwali, the festival of lights, the Indian American community banded together
collecting tonnes of food and thousands of dollars from across the metroplex
as part of the annual food drive benefiting the North Texas community.
This year, HungerMitao is proud to contribute
49,000 pounds of food and $13,365 to this initiative,
strengthening the North Texas Food Bank’s feeding network.
HungerMitao team is grateful and inspired by these community engagements that help keep our neighbors nourished.

2023 HungerMitao Month
Food & Funds-For-Food Drive
A Huge Success; Over 100,000 Nutritious Meals Enabled!
Each year we celebrate August as HungerMitao Month to commemorate India's Independence! And, like each year, we invite the community to join in to help raise food and funds for North Texas Food Bank. The process/act is simple, yet the impact is life saving!
Here are three ways in which community members engaged in the 2023 HungerMitao Month - Food & Funds-For-Food Drive (anytime between August 1st and 31st);
North Texas is unfortunately home to a high level of food insecurity. Shockingly, 1 in 5 kids in our community are at risk of going hungry every day. However, we can make a difference. By supporting the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), you will be contributing to programs that keep our neighborhoods nourished.
Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, and we genuinely appreciate your involvement in this meaningful cause.
If your are interested in learning more or to join in, please drop an email to NorthTexas@HungerMitao.org

See What You Have Helped Achieve!
Five years ago, on September 29, 2017, the seed of an idea was planted; a community embraced it and nurtured it; the result: the seed bore fruit & shade that provided relief & comfort to millions.
On this special day, we thank everyone for their contribution to this journey, which has so far yielded over 50 million nutritious meals for the Feeding America network of food banks, and over 15 million meals right here in North Texas!
Learn more, join us.. let us together HungerMitao (wipeout hunger)!

Welcome to HungerMitao_NorthTexas
The HungerMitao chapter for North Texas Food Bank was formed to raise awareness, improve engagement, as well as channel resources and contributions of the Indian American community toward NTFB’s mission of a hunger-free community.
A critical component of NTFB’s tenet of community engagement, HungerMitao is working to provide food assistance to thousands of food insecure individuals across NTFB’s 13 county service area. It does that by:
By coming together as an unified Indian American community, we can demonstrate how any place we call home benefits from our presence. We are smart, compassionate change-agents, who bloom where we are planted. While we may never be able to eradicate hunger, let us ensure no one goes hungry – HungerMitao!
